Living Well

So We Can Die Well

a presentation by Tim Frymire Tim crop

This talk will explore how certain spiritual perspectives and practices can help us not only experience life more fully now, they will also prepare us to better face and deal with death- our own and those we care for.

If Saint Irenaeus was correct that “The Glory of God is a person fully alive”, then we are responding to God’s call when we live with an eye to life’s end.  Though sometimes considered a morbid and sad topic, the presenter brings a wealth of humour and spirituality to help make this an entertaining and hopeful exploration.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 19:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church (1001 Grant Ave, Winnipeg).

Health Ethics in the Catholic Tradition

“When your loved one is dying… practical help for difficult decisions”

presentation by Fr. Michael Prieur.

Dying is difficult in our technological age. When do we turn off the respirator? Who decides when there is a family dispute? Do we need to use artificial nutrition and hydration no matter what? Why can’t we relieve people’s suffering by hastening their death?

Questions like these haunt us all.  Rev. Fr. Michael Prieur chaired the committee for the Third Edition of the Health Ethics Guide published by the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada in Ottawa in 2012.  With almost 50 years in bioethical consultations, he can help to unravel these questions with insight, experience and a good sense of humour.

This presentation will be in English and the entrance is free. There is no need to register. Please join us on Monday, October 21, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., at the St. Boniface Cathedral, in the Parish Hall.  All are welcome.
